MasonrySaver ® Stamped Concrete Sealer is a non-yellowing acrylic polymer blend sealer formulated for use on properly cured stamped concrete surfaces. It leaves an attractive, durable, satin finish that protects stamped concrete surfaces from damage and color loss due to ultra-violet light, moisture and abrasion/wear.
WHERE TO USE
MasonrySaver Stamped Concrete Sealer is designed for use on both interior and exterior concrete. It is suitable for use on a variety of surfaces where a durable satin finish is desired including stamped/decorative concrete patios, driveways, and sidewalks.
DIRECTIONS
Before use, read all directions for preparation, application, and safety information. Always test each type of surface before application for suitability and desired results before proceeding with general application. Do not proceed with application if any of the following occur: temperature falls below 50°F, rainfall is predicted within eight hours of application, or when surface is frozen. Application should only be made when surface temperature is between 50-90°F and is thoroughly dry.
Limitations: Not suitable for use over asphalt surfaces. Do not use on below-grade surfaces that are subject to severe hydro-static pressures. When using in areas subjected to hot tire traffic, allow 5-7 days for product to cure before putting the area back into service. When applying over previous coating, hot tire resistance maybe compromised. Do not use if the area will be exposed to softer, high performance tires. Product will not withstand brake fluid and will need to be reapplied in areas where brake fluid spills have occurred.
SURFACE PREPARATION
Remove dust, dirt, grease, oils, efflorescence, wax, curing compounds, coatings or other foreign matter that might block or interfere with product penetration. New construction should cure for a period of no less than 28 days and should be clean and dry. Test a small area of surface before starting general application to ensure desired results and coverage rates. Provide adequate ventilation if applied indoors. Protect adjacent paint films, windows, plant life, drains, asphalt-based material, and all non-targeted surfaces from overspray. Remove any overspray immediately with soap and water. During use, avoid wind drift that may injure pedestrians or may damage vehicles or adjacent properties. Note: Product will cause any stains on surface being treated to darken. Remove all stains before applying.
APPLICATION
STEP 1: CLEAN
For new concrete: New concrete should be allowed to cure for 28 days.
Ensure the surface is clean, then use MasonrySaver No-Rinse Etch according to label instructions to etch the surface instantly, and avoid rinsing and wait time. Surface can be sealed the same day. Muriatic acid may also be used to etch and prepare the surface. When using muriatic acid, surface must be rinsed thoroughly and allowed to dry completely. It is extremely important to rinse the surface thoroughly to bring the substrate to a neutral ph level (7). Applying sealer over an acidic substrate will most likely result in failure.
For existing concrete: Clean surface with a high quality degreaser per label instructions. If desired, a pressure washer can be used to rinse degreaser and may result in a cleaner surface than rinsing with a garden hose alone. Allow surface to dry, waiting a minimum of 6 hours before proceeding to next step.
STEP 2: APPLY
Mix thoroughly before use. Apply two uniform coats of material to concrete surfaces with a pump-up garden sprayer with a fan-type nozzle. You can also use an airless sprayer, pad applicator, or short nap roller. Allow the first coat of material to dry sufficiently to walk on, but not more than 4 hours, prior to application of the second coat. Avoid puddling or ponding of product. Block all drains and use absorptive coverings to contain run-off or excess material.
Coverage Rate: 100 - 150 square feet per gallon on concrete. Coverage rates will vary based on the porosity of the substrate. Waxing: For best long-term results on interior surfaces, when cured, Stamped Concrete Sealer should be sealed and protected with a waxing compound. Failure to apply and maintain a wax coating will result in premature failure of the product. On exterior surfaces no wax coating is necessary.
Dry Time: 1-2 hours, depending on temperature and humidity. Allow 4-6 hours cure time before exposing to foot traffic. Allow 5-7 days cure time before exposure to heavy traffic, such as forklifts, automobiles, etc.
Note: Treated surfaces may become slick when wet. To provide a non-skid surface, consider mixing MasonrySaver Non-Slip Additive to this product. If using the additive, material will need to be rolled on instead of sprayed as additive granules will cause sprayer tips to clog. The additive only needs to be used on the second (final) coat.
Cleanup: Remove any overspray immediately with soap and water. Dry film can be removed using a razor scraper. Thoroughly rinse equipment with clean water.
MAINTENANCE
Remove all contaminants which might stain or abrade treated surfaces as quickly as possible to minimize staining or abrasion. Occasional cleaning with a mild detergent and water will generally restore treated surfaces to original appearance. When surface begins to show signs of wear, a single coat of material may be applied once the surface has been properly prepared. Avoid applying maintenance coat more frequently than every 18 – 24 months to avoid excessive build-up of material on the surface. When build-up of product does become excessive, surface should be thoroughly stripped of product followed by an application of two coats of material.
PRECAUTIONS
Keep out of reach of children. Avoid contact with eyes, skin and clothing. Wash hands and exposed skin after use. Treated surfaces may become slick when wet.
